Whitsundays in October

We had a very special visitor this month. My mum Lorna who with help from my handsome, intelligent and very debonair brother Terry, drove from the beautiful little township of Bairnsdale where she lives, to Melbourne and then flew on to Brisbane to first visit my gorgeous sister Kellie and darling family.  Then Mum flew onto Proserpine where I greeted her at the airport.

We are very proud of our gorgeous Mum who at 88 years young has started another University degree online through Melbourne University. She is really enjoying studying again and gaining a great deal of knowledge and excellent marks for her effort.

Mum and Dad were very happily married before Dad lost his battle with Parkinson’s disease last year. His legacy to us all and the world is his brilliant Art Work and the Book he wrote about the Bairnsdale Aerodrome. Mum has approached the Bairnsdale council to see if the road that leads into the Aerodrome can be named Prendergast Drive in his honour. He put the Aerodrome on the map with his world acclaimed book and I believe that he deserves this recognition.

We had a lovely time together. The weather was beautiful and the humidity stayed away. Mum and I enjoyed many happy hours together comparing our family history research, enjoying some delicious meals together at local Restaurants, visiting the Airlie Beach Markets  and appreciating the stunning views of the glorious Whitsundays before she had to return home. On her arrival in Melbourne my lovely sister Maureen met her to accompany her home on the train.
