Whitsunday January 2016

Sunday 31 January

What a stunning January we have enjoyed in the beautiful Whitsundays and how hard to believe that it is the last day of the month.

2016 began with a delicious degustation meal at the Coral Sea Resort and ended with a colourful fireworks display over Muddy Bay at midnight to ring in the New Year.

Last month when I posted my Blog, we were drought affected but just recently we have had some very welcome rain and everything is lush and green again. Apart from one day of rain, the rest of the time it rains at night. This means that we wake up to pure fresh air and bright sunshine every day. The temperature has been very hot, between 30 degrees Celsius and the hottest day was 39 degrees Celsius. I know this for a fact because Barry keeps reminding me of the temperature as he consults the “Weather Station” I gave him for Christmas.

We have some really beautiful homes in Airlie Beach. Crowned the most beautiful home on the Market for 2015 in a survey by international property hub Mansion Global (according to the Sunday Mail dated January 24, 2016) and positioned just 5 minutes drive from the heart of Airlie Beach, the home is located at Mandalay point. “Mandalay House” is currently up for sale – if you have a spare 19 Million Dollars (the price dropped from 25 Million Dollars)  and from what the locals say who have helped build or decorate it, I believe it is worth every cent. Mandalay House

Airlie Beach was delighted to be chosen for one week’s visit from the “Clipper round the World race”. With great excitement, the 12 identical 70ft yacht crews enjoyed all that the Whitsundays has to offer until their departure to Da Nang on 19 January when they recommenced their race 100 nautical miles off shore to avoid racing through the Great Barrier Reef.

For those sailors amongst you, please consult Clipper Race Airlie Beach the for all the Race and yacht details.

I have been nursing an injury since my trip to Paris (a whole other story that we won’t get blogged here) and have been having Physiotherapy and Acupuncture to help speed up my recovery.

The recovery has not all been painful as part of my treatment is the morning session at the Lagoon. For 1 hour early each morning I enjoy doing Aqua aerobics in the Airlie Lagoon. With the beautiful cool temperature of the water and the glorious scenery, it makes for a wonderful start to my day. Barry is my personal coach and is making sure that I do the exercises correctly. Siti my Physio will be proud of me!
